Mrs. Peggy Kendrick Adams

Peggy Kendrick Adams passed away on February 12, 2026, at Baptist South Hospital after an extended illness. Peggy was the third of eight children and a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1968. She went on to attend Trenholm Tech, where she earned her EMT certification and began her career with Haynes Ambulance. Continuing her dedication to healthcare, she later attended Troy State Nursing School in Montgomery, Alabama. After receiving her Associate in Nursing (ADN) degree from Troy, Peggy obtained her Registered Nursing (RN) license and worked in local hospitals and nursing facilities for many years. Later in her career, Peggy devoted much of her professional life to serving others through her work with the Alabama Department of Mental Health. Affectionately known as “Nurse Ratchet” by her coworkers, she was respected for her high standards, unwavering integrity, and deep knowledge of patient care. She was instrumental in holding group homes accountable, ensuring proper medication administration, and exposing falsified MARs and unsafe practices. Peggy took pride in teaching others how to correctly administer medications and maintain the highest level of care. Her medical expertise, sharp wit, and ability to find humor in any situation will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Hazel Kendrick; her infant daughter, Melissa D. Dean; her brother, Russell Allen Kendrick; her sister-in-law, Debbie Kendrick; and her best friend, Becky Carroll. Peggy is survived by her loving siblings: Joyce Bowen; Susan Jones (George); Karen Cordell (Bob); Eddy Kendrick (Cheryl); Calvin Kendrick; and David Kendrick. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, as well as her longtime friend, Beverly Hudson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday February 14, 2026, at Brookside Funeral Home 3360 Brookside Dr, Millbrook, AL 36054 Pastor Daren Davis of Living Word Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Snowdoun, Alabama. Peggy’s legacy of strength, compassion, humor, and dedication to nursing will live on in all who knew and loved her.
