In Loving Memory of Mark Keith McKenzie October 21st, 1960 — July 4th, 2025. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Keith McKenzie, a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved son, caring brother, and loyal friend who departed this life on July 4th, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on October 21st, 1960, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Mark was a man whose love and light touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, and boundless generosity. To know him was to know true loyalty, warmth, and integrity. His laughter could light up a room, and his presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. Whether he was working with his hands, cheering from the sidelines, cooking Saturday breakfast, or offering quiet wisdom in life’s difficult moments, Mark’s love and service left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him. He was the devoted husband of Lisa McKenzie, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage filled with laughter, partnership, and deep love. Together, they built a home rooted in faith, support, and family. Their bond was one of true companionship and unyielding commitment, weathering life’s storms and celebrating its joys hand in hand. As a father, Mark was endlessly proud of his children, Kyle, Conor, and Logan, whom he supported with unwavering dedication and unconditional love. He was their biggest fan, their steady hand, and their guiding light. His children were his greatest source of pride, and he never missed a chance to show them how deeply they were loved. As a son, Mark brought great joy and pride to his parents, Jim and Joyce, and reflected the integrity and compassion that they instilled in him. He honored their love and sacrifices with gratitude and respect. As a brother, he was always there to offer a laugh, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Mark viewed his friends as more than casual companions; he treated them as family. Through sound advice, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a moment of joy, he showed up with a full heart and offered genuine care. His kindness, humility, and sense of humor will be missed by all who were lucky enough to call him a friend. Mark was also a devoted dog lover whose heart had a special place for every furry friend he met. His home was always filled with wagging tails, joyful barks, and the kind of unconditional love only dogs can give, a love he returned tenfold. Whether he was spoiling his pups, Hamish and Scarlett, with treats and belly rubs, or loving on all his grand dogs, his compassion for animals knew no bounds. To him, dogs were not just pets; they were family, loyal companions, and constant sources of joy. His legacy of kindness and devotion to animals will live on in every pawprint left behind. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa McKenzie; sons Kyle McKenzie and Logan McKenzie (Kaylon); mother Joyce McKenzie; brothers James Derrick McKenzie (Wendy) and Dr. Meiklejohn McKenzie (Tera); and grandchildren Cayden James McKenzie, Marynn Claire McKenzie, Hunter David McKenzie, and Lila Jane McKenzie. He is also survived by seven nephews and one niece, as well as a wide circle of extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Doyle McKenzie, and his son, Conor Sean McKenzie. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Hills Church of Christ in Prattville, Alabama with pallbearers being Jeffery Bartlett, Matthew McAlister, Aiden McKenzie, Jordan McKenzie, Kevin Kelley, Tony Lieb and Jeff Milam. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ware, Larry Marler and Freddie Dobyne. There, we will honor the memory of a man whose legacy will live on through the love he gave and the lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Mark’s memory to Wendelstedt Umpire School (Conor’s scholarship fund), a cause close to his heart. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing that Mark’s spirit will forever live on in the laughter of his children, the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the love he so freely gave. As we reflect on Mark’s tremendous impact in our lives and determine our path forward in his absence, we are comforted by his favorite verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Hills Church of Christ in Prattville, Alabama.
