Mrs. Edna Ruth Moore

Edna Ruth Moore, aged 86, affectionately known as “Nanny,” and a longtime resident of Millbrook, Alabama, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She graduated from Demopolis High School and then furthered her education at Massey Draughn Community College in Montgomery, Alabama, and that is where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Jerry T Moore. Together they built a beautiful life, and their marriage of 55 years was a remarkable testament to enduring love and devotion. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Revie Johnson, Brother, Everette Johnson, and her sister, Faye Aylsworth. Her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Thomas Moore. She is survived by 3 loving daughters, Debbie Moore, Tina Henry, and Jennifer Grant (Jeff), her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Henry (Courtney) Brittany Matthews (Craig), Gage Grant, and Garrett Grant (Neveah); 6 beautiful great-grands, Romney Henry, Riley Henry, Rowen Henry, Raelynne Grant, Braxton Matthews, and Palmer Matthews; and many nephews and nieces. Her dear, dear friends, Jeanette Lambert, Pat Gray, Ann McCord, Emily Coaker, and Charlotte Smith and all of her Church family. Ruth and Jerry made their home in Millbrook, Alabama, where they became part of the community they loved. A member of Owen Road Church of Christ, Ruth lived out faith not only through worship, but through a lifetime of generosity and caring for others. Ruth began her career as a receptionist in the early 80’s and moved on to Retire from The Alabama House of Representatives where she met many wonderful friends. Ruth found joy in the people she loved and in the simple pleasures of life. Especially, her family. Ruth was a big Auburn fan who loved cheering on her team and giving a big War Eagle, especially to the Bama fans. She loved a simple game of cards, and a fun filled game of Bunko with her friends. She loved to travel to the mountains with her lifetime friends and enjoyed the wonderful days of camping. Her most favorite times were when she was able to go to church and spend time with her whole family. The legacy she leaves behind lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the lives she touched along the way. Friends are warmly welcome to attend her service Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home in Millbrook, Alabama. Visitation will be from 9a.m. to 10a.m. and the service will follow. A brief graveside will be immediately following.
