Mrs. Dovie Ree Monfee Hogan

Dovie Ree Monfee Hogan was born November 12, 1929, in Autauga County, Alabama and was reunited with her family in heaven on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of ninety-five. She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard in 2007 after 58 years of marriage, her parents Bozie and Mary Monfee and her brothers Tommy and Leonard. She is survived by her sister Roberta Middlebrooks and her children Harold (Sandra) and Sheila as well as five grandchildren Adrienne, Hal (Jamie), Hannah (Buddy), Jay (Anna), and Josh in addition to nine great-grandchildren: Kelsie, Tyler (Addison), Haleigh, Drew, Danielle, Trevor, Bear, Wade, and Harry and three great-great grandchildren Kacie, Kamille, and Burkleigh. Dovie was a graduate of Prattville High School and worked in a candy factory, a sewing plant, and as a greenhouse worker. Later she and her son owned their own greenhouses, and she assisted him and his wife as a delivery driver for their florist. She possessed a tremendous work ethic and was no stranger to hard labor and long hours. Perhaps her most memorable job was the 38 years she drove a school bus for Elmore County. Her white gloves were familiar to all those children and families on her Millbrook route. She found happiness in being outdoors whether it was cutting grass, tending her flowers, working in the garden, or sitting on the front porch while admiring the beauty of nature. She loved to grow vegetables and appreciated the fruits of her labor through all the stages from preparing the soil to gathering the harvest. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing and was an excellent craftswoman. Her most important roles were daughter, sister, wife, and mother. She loved and took care of her parents and treasured her brothers and sister. Family was the heart of Dovie’s world. She held dearly her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother with all her heart. Her sisters, brothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends returned her love. Throughout her life she embodied and shared a loving relationship with her Lord. Her membership and active participation in worship and activities at Millbrook Baptist Church exceeded 60 years. She loved going to church and leaves many fond and shared memories with her fellow church members. She will be missed by all, and her kindness and gentle spirit not forgotten.
