Mrs. Dorothy M. Prince

Mrs. Dorothy M. Prince, a resident of Millbrook, AL, transitioned on Friday, July 24, 2026. Dorothy’s life journey began on July 8, 1939, born to Mary and Peter Smith. Homegoing services are scheduled for Dorothy; confessed Christ and Jesus’s teachings at an early age and had a passion to sing in the choir everywhere she lived. Dorothy moved to Las Vegas at an early age where she attended Clerical School and moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the Department of Labor. After a few years she moved back west to Sacrament, CA and became a Farmers Insurance Agent. Dorothy met and dated Jimmie and was married August 20, 1980, in Reno Nevada. After a few years she moved to Millbrook, AL where she worked at DFAS at Maxwell AFB until retirement. She then volunteered at the Maxwell Consignment Shop for twenty plus years. Dorothy joined Goodship Baptist Church in 1985 and sang passionate in the choir for over 30 years. She then joined New Lily Green Baptist Church where she sang praises until her health failed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Peter Smith; sisters Betty Lewis and Ruby Falo; brother Allen Smith; grandson Joshua Hoye; and nephew Anthony Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband of forty-five years; daughters: Sheryl Hoye, Jacque (James White), Veretta (Greg Loftin); sons: Allen Smith (Stacy), Albert Hoye, Jr. (Jewel Dean), and Jimmie Prince, Jr. One god daughter: Laila Jackson, One special granddaughter: Chayell Crosby. Brothers and sisters-in-law: John Jackson, Yvonne Osborne, Darnell Prince (Ida), Curtis Prince (Patricia), and Geneva (Wilber Wright). Special Nieces: Jauwana Tellis, Patricia Gilder, Darece Tellis; Special Nephews: Monte Williams and Reggie Jackson. A host of grand and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Dorothy was an outgoing and friendly person. She had special friends she talked to almost daily. Bertha Robinson, Costella Jones (James Jones), Kitty (Sydney Combs), Rebecca McCree, Anna (Earl Glenn), Yvonne Osborne, Faye Crawford, Cathy Osais, Tony Vaughn, and adopted family Rev. O.J. Johnson and family. Homegoing services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Goodship Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. O.J. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Special thanks to Dorothy's caregivers: Lois Wilson, Bonita Washington, Starla Roberts; and Empatia Palliative Care and Gentiva Hospice for their services and care during her illness. Dorothy will truly be missed; her remarkable life has left all of us with many memories to cherish through our time of bereavement; and her legacy of love and gratitude will inspire us for the rest of our lives.
