Ms. Brenda Annette Collins Adams

Brenda Annette Collins Adams, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026 in Millbrook, Alabama, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Gordon “Dutch” and Evelyn Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Rocky Collins and Leslie Collins; and two brothers‑in‑law, Gary Taylor and C. Wayne Smith. She is survived by her loving daughters, Renee (Wesley) Holifield and Lynne (Derius) Zeigler; her five cherished grandchildren, Abby, Brook (Julio), Brian, Austin, and Kayleb; three sisters, Joan Smith, Audie (Bruce) Smith, and Ada Taylor; her brother, John (Debby) Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews. Brenda was the second of seven siblings and grew up surrounded by family—something that would become the center of her heart and purpose throughout her life. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters and later a proud grandmother to her five grandchildren, her pride and joy. Family was Brenda’s passion and joy. A single mother, she worked tirelessly at many jobs to provide for her girls, never once complaining and always putting their needs before her own. She lived a life of selflessness and compassion, known to offer a helping hand—or even the shirt off her back—to anyone in need. A woman of unshakable faith, Brenda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her belief in her Lord and Savior was her anchor—she had faith that truly could move mountains. Her kindness and strength touched all who ever had the privilege of knowing her. Brenda also shared a special bond with Krystalee (Marcus) Prothroe, who was like a daughter to her. Brenda loved Krystalee and her five children as her own, extending her warmth and wisdom to yet another generation. She also treasured her long friendship with her dear friend, Marylin Franklin, whose love and companionship were a constant source of joy and strength throughout much of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in remembering her beautiful life. She will be laid to rest following the service. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate and attentive care provided during Brenda’s final months. Their kindness, support, and dedication brought comfort to both Brenda and her loved ones, and the family is deeply grateful for the dignity and peace they helped provide at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly welcomes donations toward her final expenses, which may be given directly to the funeral home.
