Mr. Stephen Sidney Martin

Mr. Stephen Sidney Martin age 82, a resident of Millbrook, AL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Vaughn Park Church of Christ with Minister Daniel Martin officiating. The interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Collin Walton, Caleb Martin, Jody Martin, Jon Martin, Joshua Martin, Scott Martin, Dylan Bruner & Chase Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Ward, Ernest McArthur, Perry Roquemore, Roger Owens & Gordon Davis. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Newell Martin & Agnes Rachel Chinn Martin, his siblings Rachel Nitsche & Andy Martin and a bonus brother absorbed into the family, Jimmy Stuckey. He was member at Vaughn Park Church of Christ where he served in many capacities including a deacon and a church member for 54 years. He was a spiritual leader and a mentor to many. He was a retired CPA and the Financial Director for the Alabama League of Municipalities for the past 29 years of his career. Steve also volunteered with many organizations including the Family Sunshine Center and the Family Guidance Center. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Loretta Martin, son Stephen S. Martin II (Kristal), daughters Stephanie L. Walton (Scott), Rachel Wagner (Torrey), brothers Mark Martin, David Martin, Tim Martin, Thomas Martin, Daniel Martin, sister Rebecca Edwards, grandchildren Avery Bruner (Dylan), Abbey Burgess (Chase), Collin Walton, Thomas Walton, Caleb Martin, Olivia Martin, Madelyn Martin, great- granddaughter Elliott Rose Burgess and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2024, one hour prior to the services at the church. “In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Auburn Christian Foundation, which supports the Auburn Christian Student Center.
