Mr. Ronald (Ron) Taylor

Ronald (Ron) Taylor passed away peacefully at his home in Millbrook, Alabama, on August 14, 2026, two days shy of his 80th birthday. His devoted wife was by his side. Ron and his twin brother Donald were welcomed into this world by his parents JW and Clara on August 16, 1946, in Chambers County Alabama. Ron was 1 of 15 siblings which fostered an independent spirit and a never fail attitude at life. He was a jack-of-all trades and a master of some. Over the years his hobbies were endless from hiking much of the Appalachian trail, spending mornings on the lake fishing, to building beautiful hand-made furniture. At the age of 18, Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. After returning state-side from Vietnam, he served on the USS Wasp and helped in the recovery of the Gemini astronauts. Ron ended his military service as a sergeant in 1969 and returned home to Chambers County where he met his wife Joyce (Chase) Taylor. They had two sons. Ron and Joyce were married for almost 51 years. He was a resident of Lanett, Alabama, for most of his life. Ron was a faithful member of Lanett Church of Christ while he lived there. He worked for Interstate Valley Telephone Company for 35+ years and retired in 2008. Ron was a family man and was dedicated to providing for his family. Most recently Ron was a resident of Millbrook, Alabama. While living in Millbrook, he and his wife worshiped at Prattville Church of Christ. He loved volunteering at the church’s food bank. His grandchildren were the light of his world, and they could always put a smile on his face. He is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, JW and Mattie Lee; mother Clara Spence; brothers, James, Donald and Jerry; sister, Joyce Bissett, daughter-in-love Stephanie Reese. He is survived by his wife Joyce Chase Taylor; his sons, Chad (Randa) and Jeremy (Elise); grandchildren, Gabe, Ivy, Lucy, and Micah; brothers, Charlie (Pat), Lester (Sharon), Tim (Laurie), and Marty; sisters, Linda (Randy) Jones, Becky (Milo) Hachtel, Angela (Chuck) Osbahr, Susan, Kathy, Shannon; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. The family would like to thank Ivy Creek Hospice for their great care. Services will be held at Prattville Church of Christ, 344 E Main Street, Prattville, Alabama, at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 17, 2026. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM before the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Prattville Church of Christ community food bank.
