Mrs. Maxine McGraw Becker

Mrs. Maxine McGraw Becker, age 89, of Prattville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1936, in Escambia County, Alabama, to the late Sherman Alvah McGraw and Isabelle McGraw. She graduated from W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Alabama, with the Class of 1954. Following graduation, she enjoyed a long career with Winn-Dixie before retiring. A member of East Memorial Baptist Church, Maxine dearly loved her church family, especially the ladies of her Sunday School class. Although illness prevented her from attending in recent years, her faith remained steadfast. She found great joy in listening to gospel music with her sisters, traveling with family, and spending time with those she loved most. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sherman Alvah McGraw and Isabelle McGraw; her brother, Paul McGraw; her sister, Frances Hardy; her stepson, Michael Becker; her son-in-law, Dan McCarthy; and her stepdaughter, Mary Louise Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Anthony Becker; her son, Carlton "Carl" Boone (Kelli); her daughter, Gail Woodall (Bart); her stepdaughters, Melanie Oliver (Tom) and Martha McCarthy; her sisters, Ruth Dorsey and her twin sister, Pauline Lee; five beloved grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Graham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Doug Dodge, Lance Latham, Frank Mock, Tom Oliver, Pat O'Neil, and Bart Woodall. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to a hospice organization in honor of Maxine Becker. Maxine will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, her kind and gentle spirit, and the love she shared with everyone blessed to know her.
