Mrs. Mary Katheryn Weldon

Mary Katheryn Weldon went to be with her Lord and Savior in the morning hours of Saturday, December 10th, 2022, after a short illness. She passed from this life peacefully and with knowing she would be joining her loved ones in Heaven and would meet her maker in joy and celebration. Katheryn, born on November 18, 1937, lived a full life of loving dedication to her family and many friends, of loyalty to her work, particularly her career of twenty-seven years as an admired and respected secretary-bookkeeper at Stanhope-Elmore High School, and to her passion for gardening and working outside her home. She was raised in the Holtville area, was graduated from Holtville High School in 1955, and married her husband, Gerald Weldon, on September 4th, 1959. She showed her deep inner strength after Gerald’s untimely passing in 1968 by raising their two children, Diane and Joey, alone. Her warmth, her charm, her hosting family and friends to holiday gatherings in her home, her wonderful cooking, her energy, her welcoming and loving nature to all, her generosity, and encouragement, and her quiet honesty, will be deeply missed by all who knew her or was touched, however briefly, by her kind spirit. Katheryn is preceded in death by her parents, Espy and Sarah Gibbons, her sister Dorothy Jean (Jimmy) Bailey, and her brother Tommy Gibbons. She is survived by her daughter Diane (James) Locke of Montgomery, son Joey (Patti) of Tallassee, her sister Jennie Logan (Frank, deceased) of Wetumpka, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family deeply appreciates the loving care provided during her last days by the caring nurses and staff of Hospice of Montgomery, by caring friends Valerie and Eddie Wilkes, Darlene McGhee, Diane Thomas, and her neighbors. Services will include a visitation at Brookside Funeral Home in Millbrook from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, December 12th and a graveside service at the Wetumpka City Cemetery at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 13th, where she will spend eternity by her husband’s side. Serices will be conducted by the Reverend Jerry May and her close friend, Mr. Tommy Mock. Katheryn will be laid to rest by pallbearers Coach Jimmy Foshee, Jeff Foshee, Jon Foshee, Jim Foshee, Patrick Foshee, and Logan Taylor. A special honorary pallbearer will be Mr. Robert Griffith. Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Millbrook and The Big Oak Ranch. Brookside Funeral Home, Crematorium & Memorial Gardens of Millbrook, AL directing.
