Mrs. Lisa Violet King

Lisa Violet King was born to the late Stanley Earl Cox and Elizabeth Marie McKiven in Montgomery, Alabama on September 10, 1963. She died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in the hospital with her husband by her side after a long battle with cancer. Lisa was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress with her mother for many years. She loved animals and had a special love for hummingbirds. She also loved baking, her family, and Jesus. She was never one to shy away from sharing her love for Christ, and she had no problem asking if someone had a personal relationship with Jesus. She also had an excellent green thumb, which was evident in the house sized elephant ears she kept for years. She had a large impact on everyone in her life. She always found the beauty in the small things, like tasting the batter after mixing a cake or watching a hummingbird at the feeder. Lisa was married to Mark King on September 12, 1992. The two were lifelong companions and best friends. They were very present in the lives of their nieces and nephews and played a big role in their upbringing. Lisa is survived by her husband, Mark King, her sister, Marie Walker (Paul), her Aunt Dollie Herring, her nieces and nephews: Candace Langley (Ken), Beth Wagner (James), Christine Inez Pelt, Ashley Allen (Jeremy), Ravin Byrd (Nathan), Dillon Walker, and a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Jim and Shirley King, and her, brother and sister- in- laws Jerry King, Paige Swanner (Kevin), and Teresa Lane (Brady). She is proceeded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Marie McKiven, her stepfather Henry Melvin McKiven, her father, Stanley Earl Cox sr., her brothers, Robert Lynn Pelt, Lanny Morton Pelt, David Lamar Pelt, and Stanley Earl Cox ll, and her sister Carol Lizabeth Pelt. Lisa will be remembered by her strong spirit, feisty personality, and the great love that she had for her family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Brookside Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation.
