Mr. Harold Stephen Malone

Harold Stephen Malone went home to his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2024, after suffering from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was in his home and surrounded by his loving family. The oldest son of Hugh and Mary Lou Malone, Harold was born on February 8, 1940, outside of Atmore, Alabama in the small community of Poarch, Alabama, where he was a member of Judson Baptist Church. He graduated from Escambia County High School in 1958, where he was chosen as the 1958 Good Citizen winner for excelling in dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. He carried these qualities throughout his life and instilled them into his children and grandchildren. Harold married his first wife in Atmore, and they had two children, Blake Malone and Kelly Malone (Walker). During this time, Harold began working for BellSouth. While his first marriage did not last, he met the love of his life, Wanda Kanaday, in 1983. They married in 1984 and had three children, David, Amanda, and Jonathan. After moving to Deatsville in 1986, Harold became a member of Coosada Baptist Church, where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee. He retired from BellSouth in 1996 after 38 years of service. Harold had a special interest in volunteering after retirement. He became a Gideon through Gideons International and found pride in distributing Bibles across Elmore, Autauga and Montgomery counties. He also had a special interest in providing resources for the visually and hearing impaired through Alabama Telephone Pioneers. Harold is preceded in death by his parents and his grandchild, Alexander Wayne Malone. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda Malone of Deatsville, Alabama; five children, Blake (Renee) Malone of Poarch, Alabama, Kelly (Charles) Malone Walker of Atmore, Alabama, David (Kris) Malone of Huntsville, Alabama, Amanda (Ben) Malone Raulerson of Columbus, Georgia, and Jonathan Malone of Fairhope, Alabama; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers Gerald (Joan) Malone of Bay Minette, Alabama and Ted (Dawn) Malone of Poarch, Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Judson Baptist Church in Poarch, Alabama. Services will be officiated by Rev. Henry Wilson. Pallbearers will be Jordan Drew, Jeff Malone, Ryan Malone, Alex Meacham, Ben Raulerson, and Brian Strawbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International or Judson Baptist Church. Brookside Funeral Home, Crematorium & Memorial Gardens of Millbrook, AL directing.
