Mrs. Edwina Colquitt Beck

Edwina Colquitt Beck of Millbrook, Alabama passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William H. Beck; and her parents, George Summer and Mamie Lee Hannon Colquitt; and her brother George Bernard (Billy) Colquitt (Betty), and her sisters Linda Colquitt Carlisle (Marion), Frances Colquitt Glenn (Toxie), her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jamie W. and Miriam C. Beck. Mrs. Beck is survived by her daughter, Carol Beck Thompson (Merrill), and her son William Russell Beck (Diane); her grandchildren, Brian Merrill Thompson (Suzy), Laura Lee Thompson Goree (James), Dustin Russell Beck and Jonathan Cole Beck; and by her step-grandson Wesley Robert Phillips (Jodee). Mrs. Beck is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Anne Loren Thompson, Mason Grant Thompson, Caroline Elizabeth Goree, James Edward "Brice" Goree III, and Madelyne Grace Phillips. Other family members include Andrew Scott Harp (Mallory), Caroline Joy and Anna Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born September 3, 1925, Mrs. Beck's childhood home was a family farm located in Titus, Alabama. She was raised in the Methodist faith and attended Harmony United Methodist Church. She attended schools and graduated from high school in Titus, after which she moved to Montgomery and attended Massey Draughn Business School and began her lengthy career at the Veterans Administration during WWII. She married Bill Beck in 1953 and Millbrook became her home. She enjoyed many hobbies during her 67 years at her Main Street residence. In retirement, she enjoyed sewing for Romper Stompers, a children's clothing line. Edwina Beck loved the Lord and knew Jesus as her Savior. She was a faithful and active member of Millbrook Presbyterian Church for more than 65 years. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from Millbrook Presbyterian Church with Reverend Brannon Bowman officiating. The interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Beck's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family of Edwina Beck deeply appreciates the loving care provided by all her physicians, nurses, caregivers and friends, especially Green Springs Assisted Living and Rosetta Johnson.
