Mr. Conor Sean McKenzie

Conor Sean McKenzie, 29, of Deatsville, AL passed away tragically on July 9th, 2023. Conor was born on August 5th, 1993, to Mark and Lisa McKenzie. He was a lifelong resident of Deatsville, AL. Conor graduated from Prattville Christian Academy in 2012. Conor was a lifelong Alabama Fan. Conor passionately attended Alabama football games and had the privilege to attend several National Championships, Play-off, and Bowl Games. In doing so he created many lasting memories with family and friends at these events. Conor’s love for baseball lead him to a career in umpiring. He started umpiring with Dixie youth, USSSA, Perfect Game, and high school games. He attended Wendelstedt Umpire School and graduated in 2020 which led to him calling Division I and II baseball games. He currently holds the record for most games called in the Northwoods League at over 350 games. Conor’s loving, carefree spirit was evident in how he lived his life constantly surrounded by a multitude of friends and family. He had a servant’s heart and spent several years spreading the message of the Lord to children as a counselor at Winshape Camp. Conor’s memory will continue in the hearts and stories of all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James W. and Faye M. Golsan and his paternal grandfather Jimmy D. McKenzie. He is survived by his parents Mark and Lisa McKenzie, his two brothers Kyle Mckenzie (Abby) and Logan McKenzie (Kaylon), Grandmother Joyce McKenzie, niece Claire, nephews Cayden and Hunter, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Conor had an immense love for his family. He enjoyed any family gathering. Conor had a special love for children and seemed to prefer their company to others in many circumstances. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from Hunter Hills Church of Christ with Minister Don Campbell officiating and burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Brookside Funeral Home, Crematorium & Memorial Gardens of Millbrook, AL directing.
