Mr. Christopher Franklin Johnson

Christopher Franklin Johnson was born May 29, 1966, to Jesse F. (“Frank”) and Ann Chandler Johnson, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Chris was a man of humor, heart, and genuine spirt. From an early age, he had a deep love for music—playing trumpet and bass guitar as a teenager and later adding drums to his list of talents. His creativity carried through a varied career in media, including radio, television, and newspaper, before he ultimately found his professional home working for the state of Alabama. If you knew Chris, you knew laughter. His quick wit, storytelling, and ability to find humor in life’s moments brought joy to everyone around him. He was fiercely loyal, deeply kind, and utterly authentic—a good man through and through. In 1988, Chris welcomed his beloved daughter Jessica Laine Johnson, who remained the light of his life. He was also a proud and loving grandfather—known affectionately as “Pop”—to Michael Johnson, Kason Williams, Isabella Williamson, and Charlotte Williamson. Chris sought simple but wholehearted appreciation for life’s comforts: chocolate milk, cartoons, good company, and unconditional love for animals. He especially adored his emotional support chicken “Popcorn” and his roommate’s precious dog, Chris’ best buddy, “Cotton.” He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Laine Johnson; his parents, Frank and Ann Johnson; his sisters, Stephanie Wainwright (Mark) and Jennifer Johnson (Mark Riggs); his nieces and nephews, Kathleen Wadkins (Todd), Jordyn Wainwright, Calvin Riggs, and Adrianna Riggs; and great-niece and great-nephews Emma, James, and Bennett Wadkins. He will also be deeply missed by his dear friend and roommate, Rose Seevers, along with many others whose lives he touched. Though Chris faced difficult battles with depression, his faith was a comfort to him. His last text to his sister demonstrated a testimony of peace and belief. “God is alive here and holding my hand.” His family takes comfort in knowing that Chris now knows peace and is surrounded by the love and light of God through Jesus Christ. There will be a memorial service for Chris on Saturday, November 8 at 10:00am at First Presbyterian Church in Wetumpka, Alabama.
