Mr. Charlie McQueen

Charlie McQueen was born September 1, 1957, to the late Mr. Arthur McQueen Sr and Mrs. Pearlie Lee Bates, in Elmore County, Alabama. Mr. McQueen was a faithful member of Hope Christian Center located in Millbrook, Alabama, where he served many years as a deacon under the leadership of Reverend Wilbert Wright. He was the fourth child of six children and the first sibling to enter into eternal rest. Charlie's life was marked by his love of cooking, laughter and Alabama football. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with those who knew and loved him. He is survived by three devoted brothers: Arthur (Mable) McQueen of Deatsville, Alabama; John (Emma) McQueen of Montgomery, Alabama; and Frank (Sheila) McQueen of Millbrook, Alabama. He is also survived by two loving sisters: Annie (Alfonzo) Myers of Millbrook, Alabama and Shirley Hardy of Millbrook, Alabama. A devoted niece, Resha McQueen of Millbrook, Alabama, held a unique place in Charlie's heart. He also leaves to cherish his memory two uncles: David Bates of Jacksonville, Florida, and Willie Frank (Carolyn) Bates of Millbrook, Alabama. Five Aunts: Dorothy Young of Millbrook, Alabama; Sarah Wilson of Oxnard, California; Lucille Wise of Montgomery, Alabama; Katie Bates of Detroit, Michigan; and Delois (Curtis) Crosby of Coosada, Alabama. Three of his best friends preceded him in death: the late Mr. Larry Cook, the late Mr. Marvin Jackson, and the late Mr. George Stewart. Two close friends Rev. William Crumblin and Dana Barlow and a dear devoted cousin and lifelong friend James Bates. Charlie will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews with whom he shared countless holidays, heartfelt conversations, and genuine jokes and laughter. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and lifelong friends who will miss him deeply and remember his laughter, his warm heart and his cheerful smile. Charlie McQueen's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure and he will forever be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Homegoing services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 12 noon at the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Wilbur Wright officiating. The interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
