Mr. Charles "Coota" Leon Evans

Mr. Charles "Coota" Leon Evans age 84, a resident of Millbrook, AL passed away on December 28, 2022, at a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. David Kelley officiating. The interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Deatsville, AL. Pallbearers will be Israel Caraballo, Jason Conner, Jerry Norrell, Roger Fuller, Mike Evans and Cy Evans. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frankie Allen, Tobe Sankey, Jr., and Henry Reeves. Mr. Evans was an Army veteran and a retired Master Electrician. He was also, a member of the American Legion Post #133 in Millbrook, AL. He was a graduate of Holtville High School Class of 1957. Coota worked with Bob Harmon’s All Pro & Nascar All Pro Racing Series for over 10 years. Got to meet and become friends with a lot of the Race Car Drivers. He got to meet a lot of the Famous Country Singers at a Charity Event up in Nashville, TN. like Dolly Parton and Brooks & Dunn and others. They were all going into the Pits for the event. As for Coota, he was the Pit Gate Ticket Taker/ Keeper. He had the opportunity to go work in Destin, FL. to work on a Condominium that Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Roy Gillespie had purchased and wanted to have remodeled a hunting lodge that was down in Lowndes County, AL. He was invited to come down there and go deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Ell Evans and Annie B. Carpenter Evans, son Charles Leon Evans, Jr., daughter Tami Wilson, brother Thomas "Tom" Herschel Evans, nephews Jeremy Norrell and Cole Evans, mother-in-law Willie Mae Killingsworth, great friends Jack Autry and James Giles. The family would like to give a Thank You to Irene Adams their neighbor and great friend. He is survived by his wife Karen Evans, son Eddie Evans, daughters Michell Conner (Jason), Maria Caraballo (Israel), sister Peggy Evans Norrell (Jerry), eleven grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and nephew Mike Evans (Sharon). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The family request casual dress or Alabama colors.
