Mrs. Betty Jo Allen Jackson

After a long and full life, our "Momma" Betty Jo Allen Jackson passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Thursday, September 14, 2023. She was 85 years loved and will be missed terribly. Born on February 5, 1938, she was a resident of Millbrook, AL for over 60 years. She is one of seven children born to Dea Elbert Allen and Rachel Pittman Allen. While raising five children, Betty was a homemaker and seamstress. She worked tirelessly to make our clothes for church, Easter, school and play, even our wedding dresses, band and cheer uniforms. She always had a needle and thread handy. She and daddy owned and operated The Phone Store Communications in Millbrook, and it has continued for over 40 years. They also are founders of the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, one of their proudest successes. It will celebrate 25 years in 2024. Betty is survived by her five children: Wanda (David) Shoemaker, Beth (Jeff) Petty, Joel (Molly) Jackson, Kay Dobbs and Darrell Jackson. She has twelve living grandchildren: She is Granny to Lindsay, Brooke, David, Mandi, Cecile, Jeff, Greg, Philip, Anna, Casey, Brandon & Kristin as well as many great-grandchildren. One sister Joyce Bell, two brothers: Billy Allen, Charles Allen and numerous nieces and nephews who call her "Aunt Bet." She is predeceased by her husband, Cecil Franklin Jackson (2010), parents Dea Elbert Allen and Rachel Rebecca Pittman Allen, one daughter-in-law Angie Manning Jackson (2022) and three grandsons: Troy Jackson (2007), Clay Jackson (2019) & Blake Dobbs (2020): two sisters, Virginia Luna & Ruth Kovar and one brother, W.T. Allen. The pallbearers are grandsons David A. Shoemaker, Brandon Jackson, Jeff Parker, Casey Dobbs, Greg Jackson & Philip Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons Isaac Shoemaker, Cole Gilliand, Calvin Gilliand, Cason Gilliand, Copelin Gilliand, Owen Hamn, Eli Hamn & Hayden Jones. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Naylor officiating. The interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens. The family would like to say, "Thank You" to the staff of Ivy Creek Hospice for the love and care given to our "Precious Betty." Flowers are appreciated and memorials may be made to the Hank Williams Museum, 118 Commerce Street, Montgomery, AL 36104 in her memory.
