Mrs. Alcie Sanders Reeder

Alcie Sanders Reeder, age 92, entered enteral life with her Heavenly Father on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. Her legacy will be carried on by her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and more friends than one could count. Alcie was born at home on October 21, 1932, in Lightwood, Alabama. She spent most of her life in the Lightwood community before moving to Millbrook. She graduated from Holtville High School and worked in several Elmore County schools in their lunchroom. She was well known as a friend to all, Aunt Alcie to many and a woman who prayed for God’s will in her life and those around her. She was a lifetime member of New Hope Baptist Church and loved going to church any chance she had. In recent years she began attending night services at Victory Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years Owen Sanders and her second husband Johnnie Reeder, son, Glen Sanders, parents Robert Arnold & Janie Nelson, twin sister and best friend Elsie Sanders, sisters, Earline Hood, Merrell Farmer, brother Bill Nelson, sons-in-law, Charles Wilson and Steve Barham and grandson, Larry Barham. She is survived by her four children, June Wilson, Debra (Gary) Clinton, Chester Sanders, and Troy (Cathy) Sanders, and step-children, Johnnie (Joan) Reeder and Joyce (Jimmy) Foreman, grandchildren of her own and Elsie’s grandchildren who thought of her as their Memaw too. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with Bro. Johnnie Woods officiating. Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery. Family will receive visitors one hour before the service (1 p.m.) at New Hope Baptist Church 6191 Lightwood Road, Deatsville, Al 36022. The Pallbearers will be Bill Milton, Mark Nelson, Darron Hood, Justin Hood, Titus Nixon, and Karsen Bridges. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church or to The Gideons International P.O. Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251. A special thank you to Alcie’s caregiver Diane Bolling, nephew Justin Hood and Haynes Ambulance for transporting her home, special nieces Rebecca Ann Hays and Madisyn Cooper for helping with her end of life care and Southern Care Hospice.
