Ms. Sarah Ruth Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ms. Sarah Ruth Smith (age 75) of Millbrook, AL, passed away Saturday, September 25 after a short battle with cancer. Sarah was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was fun-loving, fiercely independent and had a zest for life. She loved to travel with her family and friends, was an avid reader and a binge TV watcher. She loved family game nights, bingo, and her monthly Bunco games with her “Bossy Bunco Ladies”. She will be greatly missed. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents William Henry Murff and Jessie Ruth Campbell Murff Shortnacy as well as her brother Edward Murff. Sarah is survived by two daughters, Crystal Pierce Crawford (Tony) of Millbrook and Stacie Pierce Smith (Clay) of Couer d’Alene, Idaho. One sister, Sheila Murff Brantley (Barry Felker) of Wetumpka and one brother Jimmy Murff (Rhonda) of Quinton, AL. Three grandchildren, CJ Smith of Couer d’Alene, Chelse Crawford (fiancé Chase Smith) and Logan Crawford both of Millbrook and one great grandchild, Skylar Smith of Couer d’Alene. She also dearly loved her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Brookside Funeral Home in Millbrook. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Special thanks go out to Jenny Blackburn and Emma Powell as well as the entire team at Ivy Creek Hospice for their care, guidance and support.
