Mr. Charles Dwayne Duncan

“Let your light so shine, that men may see your good works and glorify the Father which is in heaven. “Matthew 5:16 The Lord shine in His awesome glory on July 4, 2020 and called one of his soldiers home. Deacon Charles Dwayne Duncan was granted rest from his labor to await the return of his Savior. Charles Dwayne Duncan was born in Millbrook, Alabama to Tommy Lee Duncan and Dave Anna Terry - Duncan on April 5, 1962. As a child his Christian teachings came early, as he joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Elmore, Alabama. Charles graduated from Wetumpka High School Class of 1980. He was the owner of Duncan Pressure Washing Service, LLC, and an avid outdoorsman. He embodied commitment, serving 23 years as a supervisor with the City of Morristown, New Jersey. Charles had a giving spirit, finding joy in encouraging & inspiring others along his journey. His smile was contagious and delivered a message of peace. He loved God, his family & friends. Later in life, Charles married the love of his life, Ella Joyce Gaines, who she referred to as “her one true love God saved for her, until it was time.” On September 29, 2019, Charles was ordained as Deacon at Atkins Hill Baptist Church where he continued to serve his church & community with the light of Jesus shining in him. He is preceded in death by his mother Dave Anna Ashley & father Tommy Lee Duncan; his oldest sister Mary Joyce Terry and granddaughter, Precious in which the two exhibited a special deep hearted relationship. Those who will love Charles eternally & cherish his memories are his loving wife and best friend, Ella Joyce Duncan of Wetumpka, AL; six children Charles Dwayne Duncan, Jr. (Tina Lashon) of Dallas, TX, Dwayne Charles Duncan of Baltimore, MD, Marilyn Brown of Wetumpka, AL, Demetrius Brown (Veronica) of Tallassee, AL, Branita McCall (Patrick) of Wetumpka, AL and; Tameria Williams (Jeremy) of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren; brothers Leslie Terry (Pauline) of Savannah, GA, Stanley Duncan (Linda) of Elmore, AL, Joel Duncan (Cynthia) of Montgomery, AL Timothy Duncan (Patricia) of Wetumpka, AL, Demetrius Duncan of Alexander City, AL; sisters Elizabeth Morgan (Pastor Willie James, Jr.) of Wetumpka, AL; & Teresa Duncan of Alexander City, AL; three aunts, Ruth Duncan of Elmore, AL; Mary Elmore of Wetumpka, AL and Louiza Graves of Brooksville, FL; two uncles John “Sonny” Terry of Morristown, NJ and Larry Ferrell of Montgomery, AL; nieces, nephews & cousins; father-in-law Melvin (Jennie) Gaines, Sr. of Wetumpka, AL; sisters-in-laws Theresa Cotton (Tim) of Wetumpka, AL and Shirley Duncan (Benny) of Elmore, AL; brother in law Melvin Gaines, Jr. (Martha) of Wetumpka, AL. A very devoted friend Jerome Benson; a loving godmother, Mrs. Edna Milliner, god sister & brothers and a multitude of loving friends and family. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Atkin Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday July 13, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required to come into the building for visitation and celebration of life services. Social distancing of 6 ft is required at all times.
